International Conferences and Seminars

The Institute organizes international conferences, forums, symposia, seminars, workshops, and other forms of meetings and events. Recent activities include:

  1. A Commemorative Forum to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Shukutoku University (Fall 2015);
  2. Workshops on the "Roles of Buddhism in social work," for the joint study with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and Japan College of Social Work/APASWE in Tokyo (March 2014) and Hanoi (December 2014);
  3. An International Workshop, "Buddhist 'Social Work' Education in Asia" under cosponsorship with Lumbini Development Trust, Nepal, and Sri Lanka Lumbini Development Trust. (Lumbini, Nepal, November 2014).
  4. Staff members of the Institute also actively participate--through invitation or of their own volition--in similar events held in other countries to give speeches, lectures, and presentations in order to disseminate, share, discuss, or test their knowledge and ideas. Some examples include:

    The Third International Conference on Practice Research, "Building Bridges Not Pipelines: Promoting Two-way Traffic Between Practice and Research." (June 9-11, 2014 at Hunter College, The City University of New York);

    "The Role of international SW associations: Can Partnership Be Equal?--Focusing on Education and Research Assistant Projects," International Social Welfare Conference (South Seoul University, 28 March 2014); "Human Resource Policy Frameworks: Is Professionalization the Way We take?--A Rejection of "Social Work = Professional Social Work"," the 17th International Conference for Social Work Day in Vietnam (Vietnam Youth Academy, 10 November 2014), etc.
